Adding a Dashboard

The dashboard typically includes widgets, such as charts, tables, and graphs, clearly and concisely displaying data. Users can drill down into the details of each widget to get a more comprehensive view of the underlying data. The dashboard may also include alerts and notifications that inform users of critical events or changes in the data.

A dashboard is a user interface that organizes and presents information in a way that is easy to read.  Within the DCM, this concept is a configurable option and at its heart a business intelligence dashboard that provides data visualization widgets that display the current status of metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).  Standard dashboard widgets include:

  • Caseworker current open cases

  • Caseworker's current overdue tasks

  • All Cases

  • All Tasks

  • IA Analytics

To provide caseworkers with the ability to select more than one dashboard layout, it is possible to create different dashboards of different information and layouts.  By selecting from a library of standard widgets, charts, and controls, a caseworker can switch between different views of the data contained in the solution.

Steps

  1. In the Setup area, navigate to Forms and Pages here you can see three menus to work with dashboards.
  2. Select Dashboards (3) and you will find just one dashboard, the Default dashboard. We will keep this default dashboard and we are going to create a new one from here.

  3. Click on the plus sign icon

to create a new customized dashboard.

  4. Enter My Dashboard for the Name of the dashboard. The Code field will be auto-populated based on the name you entered (but you can override this if you like ensuring that there are no special characters or whitespaces used), add 'My First Dashboard' as Description.

  5. Save your new dashboard.

  6. Click on the name of your new dashboard to open it. You will find an empty area with a predefined layout of three columns. You can add predefined widgets to each one of these columns.

  7. Remove one column and re-size the other two to have the same width.

  8. Click on Add Widget (1) link on the left column. On the Available widget's window, select Summary (2) and then My Cases Total widget, then click on Add Widget button (3).

  9. Check your dashboard. This newly added widget will show the total number of cases in your solution.

  10. Click on Add Widget link on the right column. From the Available widget's window, select Miscellaneous then Image, then click on Add Widget.

  11. This new widget needs additional configuration. To do that click on Configure Widget gear icon

    at the upper right corner.

  12. In the Configure Widget window set the Name to Logo. Click on the magnifier icon to select the image file png from your Practice Resources folder. Click on Open to upload the file to DCM. Once the file is uploaded, DCM will use its internal reference for the file as cms://number_timestamp.

  13. Click on Save to finish.

  14. Our new dashboard is ready to be used in the Case Management application.

  15. Go to the Case Management Notice that we will not see our new dashboard until we select it from the list of dashboards.

  16. To set our new dashboard as default, we need to disable the Default dashboard, go back to the Setup area, and navigate to Forms and Pages > Dashboards, click on Control > Disable. Deactivated Dashboards will appear with a red shade and a strike-through effect to indicate it is no longer in force

  17. Go back to the Case Management Notice that now we only have our new dashboard on the list of dashboards.

  18. We are going to add a new widget to My Dashboard and the widget will access an external web page. Before continuing, delete the Image widget with the logo.

  19. Click on Add Widget On the Available widget's window, select Miscellaneous at left and URL from right, then click on Add Widget button.

  20. Click on Configure Widget icon at the upper right corner and insert the following URL: https://spotfire-next.cloud.tibco.com/spotfire/wp/analysis?file=/Samples/Sales%20and%20Marketing&waid=-WIMZS3da0-tu2uxkATWa-23065213619cQI&wavid=0

  21. Resize the columns to get a full view of the URL/page.
  22. Add a Coded Page widget under the My Cases Total

Select the Simple Tab Example coded page from the dropdown list.

Try the widget looking for a valid zip code. For example 90025.
