Hot To Make Editable a Field in Summary
Users often need to update just a single field on the Detail page but must open an entire form to edit it. For example, they want to edit the person's phone number without opening an entire pop-up.
It is possible to set a field as "inline editable" in Page Builder. When the user hovers the mouse over the field, it allows the user to edit it.
Making an MDM field editable
- On the top right, navigate to → <<your solution>>
- On the left, navigate to → Setup (1)
- Navigate to Forms and Pages → Detail Pages (2).
- The pages marked as Is Default (Yes) cannot be edited. Clone the detail page and edit the cloned page.
- To edit a detail page, click the hyperlink on the name of the page. This will open the Case Detail Page Builder.
- Select the MDM Field to make it editable. In the pop-up window, check the option In-line editable as shown in the following image.
- Save the changes.
- Save the detail page and do a Preview, it would look like the following image. When hovering the mouse over the Credit Score field, the Pencil icon will be shown, allowing the value to be edited.
Making a Reference Object (Dictionary) field editable
- Open the detail page by clicking on the hyperlink on the name of the detail page.
- In the Case Detail Page Builder, select the MDM Field to edit it. In our example, we are editing the Pick a Color field.
- In the pop-up window, check the option In-line editable as shown in the following image.
- Save the changes.
- Save the detail page and do a Preview, it would look like the following image. When hovering the mouse over the Credit Score field, the Pencil icon will be shown to help you edit the field. Our example shows the dropdown list for selecting a new color.
